What a perfect meal for the chilly seasons! Xiang Yuan Qiao offers comforting, hot, and delicious noodle soups in big portions.
Coming in, you'll see everyone slurping noodles from big black cast iron bowls. The menu has Taiwanese appies like spicy cucumbers and seaweed but the main dish are their soupy noodles.
There is a very instagram version where they present different ingredients in small bowls then your job is to put them into the hot noodle soup and let it cook. I feel like you're supposed to let some items cook first before others but I often see people just throw everything into the pot and call it a day.
Regardless, I prefer the pre-made bowls (generally $4 cheaper) because they still have similar items. The noodle bowls come with your choice of protein, chicken soup, noodles and topped with veggies, black fungus, enoki mushrooms, bean sprouts, bean curd, and quail egg. The soup is piping hot and stays hot pretty much throughout the entire meal due to the iron pot, which is great for people who take time to eat (like me!). Before you eat, you have a chance to pick up some extra toppings from a table near the door like fresh garlic, cilantro, soy sauce, chili oil and a few more. I definitely recommend the fresh garlic!
Overall, such a delicious medley of flavours and warmth! A decent amount of seating to accommodate small and large groups too. Also, free parking and they take credit cards! -

Four stars for the flavour of the broth.
Rest of the dine in experience is a mixed bag.
Lost in Translation? Remember the Bill Murray / Scarlet Johansen film?
Thrown in the deep end?
Nothing we couldn't handle, however the hospo was nil.
We don't read Chinese script, the English translations are cryptic to say the least.
We cooked our own ingredients in the bubbling foaming hot bowl which arrived after the solid ingredients: thin sliced lamb, mushroom fungus, veggies etc. / condiments were placed on the table.
UNexpected,not an insurmountable issue.
Lincoln centre mall location,
As observed by previous review,
is a tad difficult using Google navigation.
parking too,slightly cryptic....
..however once FOUND.... on 2nd level... facing across the road to Henderson Mall...
The noodle house is large and popular with locals who enjoy a rice noodle soup.
The Lincoln Centre Mall is mostly service and professional businesses, not retail or dining. Quiet, not a lot of foot traffic.
Quirky to find, not Impossible.
Nil rapore with serving staff.
We don't speak Mandarin.
Their English and Cantonese appears minimal, but pointing at menu did the trick. As stated we were surprised it was a self - cook exercise. Quite enjoyed that.
Complimentary tea. One refill. No chitchat.
Decor is fairly clean and comfortable.
We'd like to return with a Mandarin speaker and try more menu items. -

Seeing a couple more crossing bridge rice noodles pop up, and one being so close to home, we had to go try!
Quite busy for lunch, we were excited to get the crossing bridge noodles because of how pretty it looked with the little dishes! They also have a condiments station, with vinegar, chili oil, cilantro, and minced garlic.
It was fun putting in the ingredients into the bubbling hot soup, however the broth itself was super salty, making the experience much less enjoyable. Food was all very fresh and good quality though!
Would love to go try other crossing bridge noodles places, hoping they're not all salty as the dead Sea! -

Review: I'm tired and I'm posting this to procrastinate. Someone please try to motivate me :( I used to go to Xiang Yuan Qiao with my dad a lot for dad & daughter dates. BUT this time I went with my friend and I found out they RAISED THEIR PRICES Its okay sort of... they raised their prices by like 1-2 dollars :( When my noodles came, it looked sort of really ugly so I rearranged stuff to make it look prettier for this picture. When you order it don't expect it to look that good. You get a lot of food for the price (even though they raised their prices). The noodles come with spinach, bean curd strips, wood ear mushroom, a quail egg and enoki mushrooms. I like adding garlic and chilli oil. ‼ADDING GARLIC REALLY ADDS A NICE KICK OF FLAVOUR I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT‼ I would probably come here again. Xiang Yuan Qiao doesn't really disappoint, I mean if you want more flavour they have a condiment bar which has green onions, parsley, garlic, chilli oil and I think green onion oil? (I'm not sure). Rating: 8/10 -

New rice noddle place inside Lincoln centre in Coquitlam. They had replace a Vietnamese restaurant (Pho Sen). After months of renovation it has finally opened.
Disclosure, I'm not a fan of soup in general. But needed to try this place. Newly renovated the place looks nice. Service was good and fast. I've been here now a couple if times. I've had the beef brisket soup with noodles. It was good and very hot temperature wise, you've been warned you will burn your mouth like I did, presentation looks like a hot pot. My husband and I have a Taiwanese go to soup place in Burnaby and I still feel the place is better just more depth of flavours in the broth compared to this place, noddles were nice. Overall, I will be back location is very convenient for me as I work in the building.
